History of Cartersville Area Writers (CAW)

  Cartersville Area Writers was founded in August 2022 and quickly found its footing under the leadership of our first president, Mandy L. Cantrell, and a dedicated team of volunteers. 

 CAW has grown into a vibrant, inclusive community of writers. Along the way, we welcomed members from Calhoun Area Writers and, in mid-2025, expanded again through a merger with Rome Area Writers. Together, these partnerships broadened our reach and strengthened our shared commitment to the literary arts across Northwest Georgia.

Each year, CAW hosts the CAW Writers Conference, publishes our annual anthology series The Crow Speaks, and offers workshops, speaker events, and community programs focused on writing, publishing, and promotion. CAW hosts and participates in community wellness and supportive events. We are proud to be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and are active on most major social media platforms.

 Whether you are just beginning your writing journey or have years of experience, CAW is here to support your creative and professional growth. Our doors are open to all writers, and we would love to welcome you into the CAW family.
